I am trying to perform the simplest filter for a specific property value, as a JSON input, in a Kibana visualization, thoroughly without success. I can't, to my surprise, find concrete examples in doing that have been searching for a couple of minutes now.

I tried using "script", "query", "filters" api, but all give me parse errors. My filter jsons are all valid, my problem is with the exact syntax elastic is expecting, but all examples I found out there and tried - give me parsing errors after making the amendments to my index structure.

In my Kibana dashboard I want to display the count of log entries with a "failure" value for each operation id, but I want to filter out cases where a "success" log entry for the id exists.

I am only interested in operations that never succeeded.

Some more context, or possibly screenshots, could be helpful. My question to you is, Let's say we have a Kibana dashboard and you can also click and select something on the any visualization to zoomin or to see only the things which you are interested in.

Is there a way to disable it? Actually, we have the use case where people shouldn't click and select something to kibana. I mean the filtering should not be there for Kibana.

Oh, I see, you want to disable interaction with the visualizations, like applying filters from the legend or zooming in on a time range using the click and drag feature.

Unfortunately, there's not currently a way to do this. Even in embedded mode, all of those interactions are still enabled. I also can't find an issue that covers this request. But if you need a date range agg, you will have to upgrade your Kibana version. I am too abacked by the fact that why its not working. Any help? But you should always make sure to set the timepicker interval to be greater than your timestamp interval, because right now the timepicker interval 'overrules' the interval setting in the AND clause. Best wishes, Thorsten.I am trying to create visualization using the Visual Builder introduced in Kibana 5. After I specify the target index, I have problems setting up the filter to get my target data.

Is there a how-to guide about visual builder available? I really want to use this feature but I am stuck with the very basic stuff. Appreciate all helps. You can filter all your data by a single filter choose "Filter" under "Group By" or multiple choose "Filters". You use the same Lucene expression syntax for these filters as you can anywhere else in Kibana. Here's a simple example of multiple filters on some Metricbeat data: image. The filter control under "Panel Options" is for configuring the entire panel, which could be multiple visualization, instead of just a data series.

Here's an example of using a filter from Panel Options on the Metricbeat data: image. There's a demo video there from the creator of the feature. Thanks for the documentation. I tried, and it didn't work for me. I just updated to Kibana 5. Under Data: 4. Labeled the field as udppm cpu the label didn't even come up in the display 5. I can see the visualizations available in the visual builder can really help us create a kick ass dashboard.

I just couldn't get it work. I appreciate if you can help me figure out what I did wrong here. Thanks a lot. When adding a visualization to the dashboard I would like to be able to stick a filter on it, so that I can reuse the same visualization to show different subresults. One twist on this is whether these filters should be able to override global filters. It would be nice to have that as an option, so users can define filters that are pinned to a visualization, and not affected by the rest of the global filtering.

For instance - we measure country level metrics and would like to see traffic trends in the US pinned and see how it relates to traffic in other countries. Another use case is to view the overall trend in a histogram on the top of the dashboard - but be able to quickly drill down using many visualizations e. Currently I am having to resort to a mixture of using Kibana 3 dashboards or multiple tabs of Kibana 4 dashboards.

This would definitely add a lot of value to Kibana. Currently, I find myself duplicating visualizations and dashboards just to let the the user choose between a predefined set of "data scopes". This would be incredibly useful for the progress tracking part of a dashboard one of our teams needs. Short time scale for details on the weekly jobs run and a long term progress graph on the same dashboard. Skip to content.
